What is Converter?

Raw sequences got back directly from sequencing are usually stored in seperate files. In order to run the sequences through FastGroupII, it is required that these sequences be put together in one FASTA format file. Converter is such a tool that automatically conducts this otherwise tedious work.

How to download it?

Converter is a java program. It can be downloaded here.

Some users might have noticed that when you click on the link, the brower brings up a page of some mysterious codes instead of downloading the program. This is due to the fact that the browser you are using doesn't recognize .jar file. What these users can do is, put the mouse on top of the link, click the right button and choose 'save target as'. Then a file named Converter.jar will be saved to your local computer.

How to use it?

After the file is downloaded to the local computer, right click on the filename, then click on 'open with' in the drop-down menu. Select 'javaw' from the programming list. The Converter window will then pop up. You are ready to use it! The instructions in Converter will help you through the process of conversion.

Converter does not work?

Most of the errors are caused by the filename of your sequence files. Make sure all the filenames end with .seq and it is case insensitive. Create a folder, move all the sequence files into this new folder and try it again.
